Chicken Yakitori

Today was a magical day that I spent with my dear friends, the Sameshima family! We (Ok, everyone except me because despite the driver's license that burns a hole in my wallet begging to be used for it's one true calling, I don't drive... well.) drove down to Maryland to eat some deeeeelish, fresh blue crabs. And while I grew up crackin' lobsters and cooking clams from the Long Island Sound, this was my first go at breaking open crabs with my bare hands and a wooden mallet.

Lebanese Chicken Wraps

HAY! Ok, I'm scrambling to write this during commercial breaks of The Bachelorette. My Chromecast is broken and Dan needs quiet in the living room, so I'm on my laptop and there's a commercial for some show about 90s pop stars singing karaoke or something..? Eek, back in a sec. Commercials are over. (C'mon James Taylor, make some moooves!)

Chicken Katsu

Heeelp, I can't moove! So full! Today I got brunch with Iris and Blase at New World Mall in Flushing. The neighborhood, deep in Queens, the last stop on the 7 train, contains NYC's bigger, better Chinatown and Koreatown. New Yorkers know that you head out there to do things like shop for sushi-grade fish, go to Spa Castle, and, of course, get dim sum on a Sunday.

Curry Chicken Salad

Today I have something a little different for you! Here's a recipe from my blogger friend Paige at Where Latin Meets Lagniappe. Check out her site for incredible inspired by her South Alabama upbringing as well as the flavors she began to explore after meeting her Paraguayan-Floridian husband. All of her recipes have a real "lagniappe" flare (Hi, Paige introduced me to this word and I love it. It means something bonus or extra thrown in.) like King Cake Donuts or New Orleans Style Barbecue Shrimp. A lovely compliment to my Yankee-meets-Korean fare, if I do say so myself!

Homemade Dino Nuggets

Welp, it's 8PM on Halloween. I've had my hair set in pin curls all day so that I can pull off some kind of 1940s housewifey look for a party I'm going to, but I just realized that I URGENTLY need to be Janet Jackson in the "Miss You Much" video, aka I need to learn that choreo *immediately* and do it all over New York City tonight.

Raw Squash Ribbon Salad with Balsamic Glazed Chicken

I write to you from my couch where I've spent most of the weekend watching the new Justin Bieber video (is it too late now to say sorr-yy?) and my new favorite Korean drama. Oh, and I also have a new found love for Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine. I saw On Your Feet, the Gloria Estefan musical and I can't hear 1-2-3 enough times. So, yes, my weekend was 1-2-3, Justin Bieber, 로맨스가 필요해, repeat!

Fauxtisserie Chicken

July was absolutely bonkers around here. Dan and I pretty much tag-teamed real-life, as we took turns going out of town all month long. The pups were NOT happy about this arrangement. Jelly's gotten extra clingy as a result, and is never not snuggled up next to me now, but I suppose there are worse things in this world than having a cuddly 1-year-old yellow lab hanging around. It's pretty buhnnoying when I'm trying to do yoga, though.
